The samaroid fruits are some 20 cm. long, with a basal globular seed-bearing part covered in long spines and a large oblong-falcate wing, from which the style-base arises in the form of a spur from the upper side near the base.
The flowers resemble those of Pterocarpus.
The large leaflets have conspicuous glands beneath.
