General Information

Bejuco epífito sobre troncos en el sotobosque, fértil ca. 2 m arriba del suelo. Hojas de plantas juveniles conla lámina no aplastada al substrato. Hojas de plantas adultas con el pecíolo ca. 9.5–16 cm, liso, envainadohasta el genículo, la vaina finalmente decidua; lámina 14–23 4–8 cm, lanceolada a estrechamente elíptica,cuneada en la base, membranácea a delgadamente coriácea, no a escasamente perforada, con 4–6 venas late-rales primarias por lado, los márgenes enteros. Pedúnculos 10–14.5 cm. Espata “amarillenta” (Barringer et al.3489, MO). Espádice ca. 4.5 1 cm. Infr. anaranjado apagado.

    Epiphytic climbers. Stems with internodes 1-6 cm x 2-7mm, semiglossy, dark green, smooth, weakly sulcate on one side. Juvenile leaves, petiolate, entire. Adult leaves; petiole to 15 cm long, sheating for most of length, narrowly and sharply sulcate, the sheath erect; blade drying blackened, highly variable in shape, sometimes oblong and entire, sometimes ovate with large tear-drop-shaped perforations, these sometimes open to margins, rounded to truncate at base and decurrent onto petioles. 20-30 x 10-15 cm; midrib weakly sunken and concolorous above, convex to prominently raised and paler below. Inflorescences long- pedunculate, 1 per axil, the penduncle 7-15 cm long; spathe green to white, becoming yellowis 4-7 cm long;spadix cylindroid, yellowish, 2.5 - 6 x ca. 1cm deep orange at maturity.

    Morphology

    Leaf: juvenile leaf patent; petiole sheath deciduous; blade division perforate/entire; leaf tertiary veins reticulate/parallel to secondary veins; pinna base absent character; pinna division absent character. Inflorescence: spathe adaxial colour cream/pale green/yellow; peduncle length longer than spadix. Flower: stylar region apex shape truncate; stigma shape linear short branched. Fruit: berry colour orange.
