Base del tallo reducida, no carnosa, cónica. Hojas caulinares basales y más proximales numerosas, verdes, evidentemente sobrelapadas en una cabeza compacta y globosa, oblonga o rara vez subcónica, congesta, apicalmente redondeada o aplanada. Botones foliares axilares sin formar cabezas. Inflorescencias inmaduras ni congestas ni carnosas, ni formando una cabeza, verdes. Flores amarillas. 2n = 18. Cultivada.     Stem base highly shortened, not fleshy, conical. Basal and lower cauline leaves green, numerous, strongly overlapping into a compact, globose, oblong, or rarely subconical, closed, apically rounded or flattened head. Axillary leafy buds not forming heads. Inflorescence neither fleshy nor condensed into a head. Flowers yellow. 2n = 18*.
