Shrublet to 40 cm, with spreading, woody branches. Leaves opposite, linear-elliptic to triangular, densely adpressed-hairy. Flowers in rounded to flat-topped clusters on densely hairy peduncles, tubular, whitish, petals ± 4 mm long.
Perennials forming shrublets up to 0.4 m high, much branched, with spreading woody branches, with old leaves deciduous. Leaves linear-triangular to linear-elliptic, 10-50 x 2-3(-4) mm, sharply acute, more or less flat above and very convex below, becoming about as thick as broad, densely covered with recurved, often adpressed hairs usually at least 1 mm long, green to brown. Inflorescence a globular to flat-topped thyrse with 3-5 part-inflorescences (i.e. the globular part-inflorescences are produced from one or two nodes of the main axis), with peduncle 0.1-0.3 m long and covered with recurved hairs. Calyx: lobes linear-triangular, 3-3.5 mm long, bluntly acute, fleshy, covered with spreading hairs often unevenly long and without distinct marginal cilia, green to brown. Corolla tubular to almost cylindrical, fused basally for 1-1.3 mm, with terminal appendages adpressed to one another, white to cream; lobes elongate panduriform, 3.5-4.5 mm long, with elongate ellipsoid dorsal appendage in terminal position and without membranous petal apex on inside. Stamens with black anthers. Squamae oblong-cuneate, 0.6-0.8 x 0.4-0.5 mm, slightly emarginate, fleshy, pale yellow.
