Paspalum fuscescens J.S. Presl in C. Presl, Reliq. Haenk. 213 (1830). Isotipo: Filipinas, Haenke s.n. (MO!).

Duración indefinida, extensamente estoloníferas. Tallos 7-20 cm, ramificados; entrenudos y nudos glabros. Hojas en su mayoría basales, glabras o ciliadas; lígula c. 1 mm; láminas 1-5 cm x 2-5 mm, linear-lanceoladas. Inflorescencia 2-5 cm; racimos 2-3, 2-5 cm, conjugados o digitados; raquis de los racimos 0.8-1 mm de ancho, alado, glabro. Espiguillas 1.4-1.5 mm, en tríadas, elípticas, glabras; gluma inferior generalmente obsoleta, raramente hasta 0.2 mm, enervia; gluma superior casi tan larga como la lema inferior, ligeramente más corta que la lema superior, glabra, 5-nervia; lema inferior tan larga como la espiguilla, 7-nervia; lema superior 1.3-1.4 mm, pajiza, la punta purpúrea; anteras c. 0.6 mm. Sabanas arenosas. B (Wiley 287, MO). c. 700 m. (Nativa de Asia tropical; introducida en Belice, Sudamérica tropical y África tropical.)

    Annual, ascending from a creeping base; culms 4–30 cm. high.

    Spikelets narrowly ovate-elliptic, 1.2–1.6 mm. long; lower glume a minute hyaline rim or absent; upper glume as long as the spikelet, 5-nerved (rarely 3-nerved), glabrous; lower lemma as long as the spikelet, 7-nerved, glabrous; fruit ellipsoid, pallid to light brown.

    Inflorescence of 2–4 (typically 2) digitate racemes; racemes 1–7 cm. long, the spikelets ternate on a ribbon-like winged rhachis with low rounded midrib.
