    Spikelets 2–3-flowered, 5–7 mm. long, green, herbaceous; glumes subequal, longer than the lowest floret and almost as long as the spikelet, the lower 4.5–5 mm. long, 3-nerved, the upper 5–6 mm. long, 3–5-nerved; lemmas keeled in the upper half, obtuse, awnless, the lowest 4–5 mm. long; palea shorter than the lemma, the keels minutely ciliolate; ovary glabrous; anthers 1 mm. long.
