Male flowers: pedicels c. 1 mm long; sepals 5, 3 × 2 mm, ovate, acute, stellate-tomentose without, glabrous within; petals 5, 3 × 1 mm, oblanceolate, obtuse, subglabrous but densely ciliate on the margins; disk glands 5, acute, minute; stamens 10–17, filaments 1.5 mm long and glabrous, anthers 0.75 mm long with a broad connective; receptacle densely white-villous.
Racemes 10 cm long, terminal, androgynous; bracts resembling the stipules.
Female flowers: pedicels c. 2 mm long, stouter than in the male; sepals 5, 4 × 1.5 mm, triangular-lanceolate, acute, stellate-pubescent without, glabrous within; petals absent; disk 5-lobed, the lobes triangular-conoidal, fleshy; ovary 3 mm in diameter, bilobate-subglobose, densely stellate-tomentose; styles 2, c. 5 mm long, suberect, deeply bipartite with filiform segments, sparingly appressed stellate-pubescent abaxially, otherwise glabrous.
A many-stemmed tree up to 7 m tall.
Young shoots densely fulvous stellate-pubescent and rusty-spotted, later glabrescent and minutely verruculose.
Stipules 2–5 mm long, subulate-filiform, sparingly stellate-pubescent.
Leaf blades 3–6 × 3–7 cm, 3-lobed, often with additional smaller lobes alternating with the 3 main lobes, all lobes obtuse at the apex, subtruncate at the base with 2 sessile ochreous disciform glands on the lower surface, chartaceous, fulvous-tomentose when young, later sparingly stellate-pubescent on upper surface and more evenly so beneath; 5–7-nerved from the base, lateral nerves 2–4 in the middle lobe, not prominent above, scarcely so beneath.
