Capsicum annuum var. annuum

Hierbas erectas o arbustos, hasta 1.5 m de alto. Corola 4–7 mm de largo. Fruto muy variable en tamaño y forma, mayormente más de 2 cm de largo y más de 8 mm de ancho, rojo, amarillo o morado, pedicelos fructíferos apicalmente robustos, a veces inclinados; semillas 3–6 mm de diámetro, variables en tamaño.

Planta comestible, cultivada y ornamental en todo el país; 0–500 (–1000) m; fl jun–dic, fr todo el año; Robleto 907, Stevens 23504; actualmente cultivada en casi todo el mundo. "Chile", "Chile cabro", "Chiltoma".

    Herb or small shrub to 1.5 m tall, short-lived perennial or cultivated as an annual, mostly glabrate. Leaves mostly ovate, subentire, to 15 cm long; petioles often elongate. Flowers mostly solitary, rarely in pairs; pedicels slender to very thick, often enlarging in the distal portion; calyx truncate or with umbos less than 0.5 mm long, constricted at the base only tardily under stress of the en- larging fruit; corolla white, rarely with a bluish hue, mostly lacking yellow, green or brown markings, lobed about halfway, the lobes obtuse and about as long as broad; the anthers more-or-less violet, sometimes drying green, the filaments short. Fruit extremely variable as to size, shape, color and flavor.
