Leaf-blades elliptic, oblong-oblanceolate or elongate-elliptic, 1.7–8.5 cm. long, l–2.7(–4) cm. wide, obtuse at the apex, rounded or cuneate at the base, glabrous above or with few hairs on the midrib, with sparse scattered stellate hairs beneath, particularly on the midrib, at length almost glabrous; petioles 2–4 mm. long, stellate-pubescent.
Flowers moderate in size, globular, apparently never fully opening, scented, solitary, extra-axillary; pedicels 1–1.8 cm. long, with rather sparse stellate hairs; bracteoles elliptic or linear, 1.5–5 mm. long, 0.5 mm. wide, pubescent.
Sepals broadly ovate, 4–6 mm. long and wide, acute, free or even slightly contracted where they join the 5 mm. diameter receptacle, not covering the bud, covered outside with scattered stellate hairs and also often woolly pubescent at the apex and on the margins.
Petals cream-coloured or butter-yellow or sometimes greenish, waxy, orbicular, 1.2–1.6 cm. long, 1–1.4 cm. wide, convex, rounded, rather stiffly fleshy, the margins slightly ciliate but otherwise glabrous.
Stamens broadly cuneate, 2 mm. long; connective-prolongation obliquely truncate-capitate.
Fruiting pedicels 1–3.8 cm. long; monocarps green at first then red, 7–20, globose, 0.8–1.2 cm. in diameter or transversely ovoid, 0.9 × 1.2 cm., 1–2-seeded, not in any way constricted between the seeds, at first very sparsely stellate hairy, later glabrous, microscopically granular or almost smooth; stipes exceeding the monocarps, or at least as long, 0.5–1.3 cm. long.
Seeds pale orange-brown, not shining, subglobose, 7 mm. long, 5–6 mm. wide; hilar aperture small, squarish.
