Epífitas; rizoma c. 0.2 mm de diámetro, rastrero, ferrugíneo, los tricomas rojizos a pardos, aplanados, septados; hojas 3.5-7.5 x 1.1-1.7 cm, distantes, arqueadas, péndulas, determinadas; pecíolo 8-20 x 0.2-0.3 mm, terete, pardo-rojizo, glabro, no alado; lámina 2.9-5.7 cm, linear-lanceolada a lanceolado-ovada, 2-3-pinnatífida, membranácea, glabra, a veces con tricomas diminutos sobre las nervaduras, verde a parda al secar, la base truncada, el ápice pinnatífido; raquis pardo, glabro, alado, el ala c. 0.1 mm de ancho; pinnas 6-14 pares, 7-9 x 4-6 mm, 1-2 pinnatífidas, flabeladas, ovadas a truladas, ascendentes, esparcidas, la base pedunculada a suavemente adnata por la base decurrente, el ápice redondeado, las pinnas inferiores casi tan grandes como las medias; últimos segmentos 2-3 x 0.8-0.9 mm, lineares, glabros, los márgenes serrulados, el ápice serrulado, redondeado; nervaduras bifurcadas, no aladas; soros 1-3 por pinna, 1 por segmento en la axila o en el lado acroscópico de la pinna; involucro 1.5-2 x 1-1.5 mm, libre, ovado a campanulado, no en ángulo con el plano de la lámina, la base arqueada y algo pedunculada, cuneada, los márgenes enteros, el ápice agudo a redondeado; receptáculo inserto a exerto; esporangios 6-36 por soro. Con frecuencia esta especie es confundida con Hymenophyllum fucoides , pero se diferencian por los caracteres mencionados en la Clave. A menudo crece mezclada con H. polyanthos.

    Plants on rock. Leaves oblong, 2--3-pinnatifid, 2--6 × 0.5--1.5 cm, with minute, 2-celled, glandular hairs scattered on veins; margins distantly dentate. Gametophyte gemmae absent. 2 n = 26.

    Rhizome creeping, 0.2-0.3 mm diam.; rhizome hairs 0.3-0.5 mm long, concentrated at base of frond; fronds arching or erect, 4.0-12.0 cm long; stipe 1/3 the frond length, 0.3 mm diam., very narrowly alate at top, glabrous except for occasional short hairs; blade pinnate-bipinnati-fid, ovate-lanceolate, 1.2-2.5 cm wide, lower pinnae not much reduced; rachis barely alate; segments 0.7-1.0 mm wide, glabrous; margin remotely or distantly serrulate; involucres not immersed, turned nearly at right angles to plane of the blade, margin entire to denticulate, 2.0-2.3 mm long, 1.0-1.3 mm wide, receptacles not exserted.

    Morphology

    Bitki karayosunu görünüşlü; ince uzun, çok sayıda sürünücü gövde yastıksı biçim verir. Gövdeler ince, uzun, kahverengi, pulsuz. Dik yaprak sapları 12- 20 mm uzunluğunda, seyrek açık kahverengi tüylü, yukarı doğru dar kanatlı, aşağı tarafta çizgili; kanatlar yukardaki ayanın aşağı doğru devamı gibi; aya 31-45 × 9-15 mm, 3 azteleksi, damarlar ve loplar ikili çatalsı, nihai loplar 2-3 × 0,9 mm, açık yeşil; kenarlar testere dişli ilâ kirpikli veya saçaklı; dişler sipsivri. Soruslar az çok koltuksal konumda, yalnız (tek tek); involukrum iki kapaklı; kapaklar tabanda birleşik, yakl. 1 mm çapında, yumurtamsı veya dairesel, yukarı yarısı dişli; dişler ayanınki gibi. Sporlar gözlenemedi.
