Leafless, dioecious shrub up to ?0.5 m high; branching sometimes verticillate; internodes of distal branches 20–30 × 1–2 mm, the ultimate branchlets flattened, but primary stems rounded.
Bracteal cups of pistillate flowers sessile, deeply indented medially, apically acute at anthesis, the rim spreading and equalizing in height during fruit development.
