Podranea ricasoliana (Tanfani) Sprague in Dyer, Fl. Cap. 4(2): 450. 1904; Tecoma ricasoliana Tanfani.

Trepadoras o arbustos subescandentes. Hojas pinnaticompuestas, generalmente 7–9 folioladas, sin zarcillos; folíolos serrados. Inflorescencia una panícula terminal, flores lilas a rojo purpúreas; cáliz cupular-campanulado, fuertemente 5-dentado con lobos apiculados; corola campanulada sobre una base cilíndrica, glabra por fuera; ovario linear, glabro; disco pulviniforme. Cápsula linear, valvas lepidotas.

Cultivada en jardines, especialmente en sitios altos; Sandino 3062, Stevens 22882; nativa del sureste de Africa. Género monotípico.

    Vines or climbing shrubs; branchlets terete without interpetiolar glandular fields; pseudostipules lacking. Leaves imparipinnately compound, without ten- drils. Inflorescence a terminal panicle. Flowers with the calyx large, cam- panulate, membranaceous, strongly 5-toothed, pale lavender when fresh; corolla lavender with magenta markings, tubular-campanulate, glabrous outside; anthers glabrous, the thecae straight, divaricate; ovary linear, tetragonal, glabrous, the ovules ca. 6-seriate in each locule. Fruit a linear, leathery capsule dehiscing perpendicular to the septum.
