Arbustos hasta 10 m, escandentes, epifíticos o terrestres; tallos maduros teretes a subteretes, estriados, glabrescentes; ramitas teretes a obtusamente anguladas, estriadas, pubérulas. Hojas 4-10 × 1.5- 3.5 cm, alternas, elípticas a ovado-elípticas, pubérulas proximalmente a lo largo del nervio medio en el haz, glabras en otras partes, la nervadura 3-5(-7)-plinervia desde cerca de la base, el nervio medio y nervaduras laterales impresos en el haz y prominentemente elevados en el envés, los nérvulos reticulados planos a impresos en el haz y elevados en el envés, la base cuneada y obtusa o redondeada a subcordata, los márgenes enteros y ligeramente revolutos, el ápice acuminado; pecíolos 3-5 mm, subteretes, aplanados adaxialmente, puberulentos. Inflorescencias generalmente con 2-10 flores, delgadas y delicadas en apariencia; raquis 1.2-4 cm, subterete a obtusamente angulado, glabro pero esparcidamente fimbriado-glandular; brácteas florales c. 3 mm, oblongo-lanceoladas, largamente acuminadas, glabras pero marginalmente fimbriado-glandulares; pedicelos 10-15 mm, subteretes, estriados, glabros pero esparcidamente fimbriado-glandulares; bractéolas c. 2 mm, similares a las brácteas florales. Flores con el cáliz 8-10 mm, glabro, esparcidamente fimbriado-glandular, el tubo 5-6 mm obprismático, las alas 2-2.5 mm, conspicuamente nervadas, el limbo 5-6 mm, subpatente, los lobos c. 2 mm, triangular-ovados, afiladamente agudos, conspicuamente nervados, los senos obtusos; corola 10-13 × 10-12 mm en el punto más amplio, conspicuamente contraída en la garganta, ligeramente obovado-urceolada con las alas más amplias por encima de la mitad, las alas 2-5 mm de ancho, semi-ovadas, con fimbrias glandulares esparcidas, anaranjada a anaranjado-rojiza hasta la garganta donde se torna verde, los lobos 1-2 mm, ovados, obtusos, blancos; estambres 7-10 mm, más cortos que la corola; filamentos c. 4 mm, esencialmente distintos pero ligeramente connatos como por la 1/2 de su longitud, ligeramente sigmoides, con pelos glandulares claviformes, dorsalmente hacia los ápices; anteras 4-6 mm, las tecas 2-3.5 mm, mucronadas en la base, los túbulos 2-3 mm, casi del largo de las tecas, dehiscentes por hendiduras introrsas de casi la 1/2 o más de la longitud de los túbulos. Leaves oblong or ovate oblong to lance elliptic, 6-13 cm long, 2.5-6 cm wide, basally subcordate, bluntly acuminate, puberulous proximally along the midrib above, glabrous elsewhere, entire, the margin slightly revolute, 5-7-plinerved, the sec- ondary veins originating near the base and the midvein flush or slightly impressed above, prominently elevated beneath, the veinlets copiously reticulate and slightly raised on both the surfaces; petioles subterete, flattened above, puberulent, 3-5 mm long, 1.5-2 mm in diameter. Inflorescence axillary, short racemose with usually ca. 4 flowers; rachis subterete basally, 1-2 cm long, basally surrounded by several triangular to oblong bracts 3-5 mm long; pedicels subterete basally but becoming winged distally, striate, glabrous, 1O-20 mm long, each subtended by an oblong bract 3-6 mm long with scattered glandular fimbriae; bracteoles lacking. Flowers glabrous; hypanthium urceolate to obprismatic, ca. 8-9 mm long, the wings ca. 1-1.5 mm wide, the limb subspreading, 8-9 mm long including the lobes; calyx lobes triangular ovate, acute, 5-7 mm long, 4-5 mm wide at the base, ca. 7 parallel, branching veins not quite extending to the margin; corolla white, membranous when dry, 10-14 mm long, ca. 16 mm in diameter at the wid- est point, slightly contracted at both the base and apex and with semiobovate wings 2-5 mm wide, a single longitudinal vein parallel to the margin, the lobes ovate, apiculate, ca. 1 mm wide; stamens 8-10 mm long, the filaments ca. 4 mm long, membranous, connate for about 1/2 their length, adnate to the corolla; anther sacs ca. 2 mm long, gradually tapering into flexible tubules ca. 3 mm long and opening by introrse clefts about ?/- the length of the tubule; stigma truncate.
