General Information

Tubers subglobose, in aggregates up to 1.2 cm diam., containing starch grains. Leaves with a small ligule or ligule absent, margins distinctly thickened; apex bluntly-oblique to acute, 5–4 cm by 1.4–4.5 mm; blade flat. Scape terete, without ridges, 15–40 cm by 1–2 mm. Inflorescence spherical to ellipsoid, 0.7–1.8 by 0.7–1.3 cm. Median bracts with margin entire, shining brown to dark brown, with triangular grey field below apex 1.8–2.6 by 1.4–2.6 mm, field with lighter spots. Lateral sepals thin, hyaline, crest broad, very thin, coarsely and distantly serrate.
