    Morphology

    Receptacles flat, paleate. Capitula solitary or several in sparingly-branched corymbiform cymes. Leaves mostly basal or radical, entire or sinuate-dentate to pinnatifid. Stems solitary or few, often branched. Perennial or annual, usually scapose herbs. Achenes cylindric-ellipsoid, at least the inner ones beaked, ribbed often scabridulous; pappus 1–2-seriate of barbellate or plumose setae. Anthers sagittate. Style branches long, obtuse, sweeping-hairs short (barbellate). Involucres sub-cylindrical or campanulate, phyllaries several-seriate. Corollas yellow or white.
